DXDT Z06 GT3.R falls short in Winner-Take-All SRO World Challenge finale at INDY
Tommy Milner and Alec Udell in the # 63 DXDT team Corvette, joined by Alexander Sims, led the race at times but not when it counted as night fell after 8 hours of racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on October 5.
The team missed the first four races before Z06 GT3.R chassis 010 was delivered at CoTA.
Tommy Milner, who tested the Z06 GT3.R all last year, was brought in to lead the charge that paid off by winning the next eight races at CoTA, VIR, Road America and Barber, setting up the winner-take-all at INDY.
The # 63 Corvette led INDY at times through, pit stops, driver changes, caution flags and all, finishing 3rd (and 2nd in the championship).
But they could not keep pace with the # 120 Porsche 992 GT3.R piloted by Adam Adelson, Eliott Skeer and Laurin Heinrich who won the SRO Pro class for the Wright Racing team.
Bryan Sellers in the # 64 Z06 GT3.R raced chassis 009 in the SRO Pro Am class. The team won 2 races but was inconsistent with a variety of co-drivers and finished 6th in the championship.
DXDT Team owner David Askew promoted Sellers to take charge of a new program to race in the IMSA WeatherTech Championship Series GTD class next year, 2025. The driver lineup for the re-numbered # 36 will be announced.
Tommy Milner who “moonlighted” with DXDT, will return full time to Pratt & Miller GTD PRO team.
Mirco Shultis in his # 70 Callaway C7 GT3-R from MishuMotors of Wiesbaden Germany and Florida was among a field of 20 world-class sports cars SRO GT America. He got spun out and sidelined during the 90-minute sprint race on Saturday and finished 3rd on Sunday.
