Competition heats up against the # 70 Corvette in SRO GT America at Sears Point Sonoma

Mirco Schultis in his “new look” Corvette faced stiffer competition in the second round of the SRO GT America Series at Sears Point Sonoma raceway.

The format calls for two 40-minute sprint races.

In race one on Saturday, Schultis in the # 70 Callaway C7 GT3.R Mishu Motorsports finished 9th out of 10 in the SRO3 class, more than 3 seconds off the pace.

Memo Gidley in the # 101 Mercedes AMG GT3 TKO Motorsports won the 24- lap race over the hilly 2.52-mile circuit.  Followed by George Kurtz, a rapidly improving gentleman driver a/k/a “amateur”, Todd Treffert, a leading vintage racer and newcomer Adam Adelson who has piloted a C7 Corvette Daytona Prototype in vintage racing.

In race two on Sunday, Schultis was about 2 seconds quicker but still could manage no better than 7th out of 9.

 Anthony Bartone in the # 427 Mercedes AMG GT3 RealTime Racing completed 22 laps to win. 

 Round three SRO GT America takes place just outside of New Orleans at NOLA on April 28-30.
