# 3 C8.R Corvette can’t keep up at Road America, settles for third in IMSA GTD Pro class

The pundits argued it would be tire wear.  Meanwhile the weather forecasters said rain would be the great equalizer.

When in fact rain or shine, neither Jordan Taylor or Antonio Garcia in the # 3 C8.R Corvette could keep pace over the two hour and forty-minute race on the 4.1-mile circuit at Road America near the town of Elkhart Lake WI.

Jack Hawksworth and Ben Barnicoat led 48 of 61 laps in the first win for the # 14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RCF GT3; closely followed by Matt Campbell & Mathieu Jaminet in the # 9 Pfaff Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3R.

Quick pit work put Taylor at the front of the GTD Pro field after the first round of green flag stops before dropping down to fourth.  Simply ran out of grunt down Road America’s long straights.

Pit stops by everyone happened on the fly due to three full-course caution periods, swapping dry and wet tires and saving enough fuel for the end in case the race stayed green.

Be assured the Pratt & Miller crew is working to fix the problem.  That is easier said than done.  While IMSA officials seem content for the season-leading Pfaff team to win the championship when the checker flag falls in the Petite Le Mans race at Road Atlanta.
