Justin Marks finishes in top 5; and Justin Oakes wins SGT class at Sebring Trans Am Round 1 opener
Justin Marks, a former NASCAR driver finished 5th piloting this C7 TA/GT1 Corvette made available by Tony Ave Racing.
Amy Ruman, 2-time champ and TA regular followed in 6th.
Justin Oakes, a relative newcomer in Trans Am overwhelmed the SGT class field in his C6 ZO6 and finished an astonishing 7th overall behind Ruman. Watch him in action! https://youtu.be/kh8HettXn_I
Michael Phillips was 3rd in SGT driving the ex F.A.S.T. C6 of Adrian Wloskowski and legendary builder and racer Lou Gigliotti was 4th in SGT but well off the pace.
If looks counted most, the Coca Cola wrap job Corvette was the winner.
Instead, it was the Mustang of Chris Dyson, starting from the back on new rubber and passing 8-time champ Ernie Francis Jr on the final lap.
While the ranks of TA/GT1 bodied Corvettes are thinning away to Camaros and Mustangs, # 23 Amy Ruman and # 30 Richard Grant seem set to carry on.
Judging by his margin of victory, Justin Oakes is on his way to SGT champ; however, launching his Droneworks venture may take precedence vs running the full schedule (which is understandable).
