Scott Borchetta wins again as SVRA winds up the 2021 season with a strong turnout at CoTA

Scott Borchetta # 98 in his 1969 ex Curt Wetzel Corvette won Group 6 by a good margin and over a large 38 car field, nearly half consisting of C2 & C3 Corvettes.  His closest competition was a much newer 2010 Group 12a Viper.

Impressive performance, well earned, even absent Peter Klutt stuck at home in Canada; and minus Jody O’Donnell, car under repair from big damage beyond his control at Road Atlanta HSR Mitty.

Texans Jim Sandberg # 84 and Scott Brady # 76, ex Steve Kline were about 6 seconds back in 5th and 6th.

Dave Kunicki # 69, Clair Schwendeman # 37, Mike Donohue # 33A, ex Ken Hablow and Joe Robau # 11 were bunched 11th thru 14th.

The above pack was followed by # 8 J.P. Griffith and # 33 Mark MciIyar in the top 20.

Mark Hilderbrand # 28A, Bob Caudle # 17, Steve Cole # 16, ex Doug Rippie and George Del Canto # 86, ex Bruce Leven all did well in practice but fell back for reasons we all know by now that go along with the territory of racing.

Gustavo Ortega # 17A won Group 10 in this 2005 Riley & Scott/Derhaag body C5 GT1, “borrowed” from his Costa Rican compatriot Jose Chocron who raced it in Trans Am the same weekend.

 Michael Zoch # 46 was 9th in this one-of-a-kind C4 GT1 that he built.

Louis Glatfelter # 58 in this straight axle Corvette finished 14th in the 36-car combined Group 1a-3-4-5b race.  Previous owners were Doug Karon and Scott Hollander.
