# 13 RWT C7 GT3-R rises up at Sachsenring ADAC-GT finale
The duo of Sven Barth/David Jahn finished 7th and 10th on Sat/Sun as Gerd Beisel’s RWT team locked up 7th place in the 2019 ACAC-GT championship standings.
RWT is a stalwart Callaway customer that started with a C6 ZO6R GT3 and currently races C7 GT3-R chassis 004.
It was rewarding for an American marque customer car to rank 7th amongst 34 entries - predominately Audi R8 LMS, AMG GT3, Porsche 911 GT3 R and BMW M6 GT3.
Looking back at that fateful Hockenheim weekend two weeks ago, here is the # 77 C7 GT3-R 003 after the second of two crashes, each caused by others. Damage beyond repair put an end to 188 consecutive races for Team Callaway. Marcus Pommer escaped unhurt. Damage beyond repair put an end to 188 consecutive races for Team Callaway. A spare front was mated to a Callaway street version as a tribute to the fans at Sachsenring.
Destruction like this is truly rare in 12 years of the ADAC-GT Masters. More remarkable given the repairability of the tube frame Corvette (vs monocoque).
A spare was not an option like in 2015 for the Corvette Racing Team at Le Mans. With the Watkins Glen 6-hour race just 2 weeks ahead, they “borrowed” the # 50 French Team Larbre C7.R customer car to replace the # 63 that Jan Magnussen crashed heavily in practice.
Following a cool precedent of the Corvette Racing Team, auctioning parts and donating proceeds can help salvage the day.
