# 59 Simon Gregg 4th and # 23 Amy Ruman 5th at Laguna Seca
The Trans Am Series returned to Laguna Seca after a 15-year absence.
Also drawn by SVRA with some 150 vintage racers including Kyle Kelley 2nd in Group 6.
The Trans Am at Laguna Seca in early May is the first of two races in 2019 that count for the regional Trans Am West Coast Series. The other is at CoTA in early November.
Remarkably the 50-lap race went flag to flag with zero caution periods. Pole winner and last year’s Champ # 98 Ernie Francis Jr. won handily over # 2 Lawrence Loshak and # 8 Tomy Drissi, each in Mustangs. Another contender # 20 Chris Dyson, also a Mustang, dropped out. The # 59 Corvette of Simon Gregg moved up to gain 4th place followed by # 23 Corvette of Amy Ruman in 5th.
Gregg leads the TA West series by virtue of having won last weekend in a foray to Auto Club Speedway in Fontana.
# 72 Michelle Nagai was third at Auto Club and 9th at Laguna Seca.
# 29 Mitch Marvosh claimed his first Trans Am career win in the West Coast GT class.
