# 77 Callaway C7 GT3R starts the season with win at Oscherlesben Racing Arena
Marvin Kirchhöfer in the # 77 Callaway C7 GT3R Corvette won a thrilling race in the Saturday opener at Oschersleben ahead of the Audi R8 LMS # 31 of HCB-Rutronik Racing) and # 25 BWT Mücke Motorsport.
David Jahn in the # 13 RWT C7 GT3R Corvette qualified 4th and ran really well before turning the car over to Sven Barth. Meanwhile Kirchhöfer took over from Marcus Pommer in 5th.
Barth tried to hold off the charging Kirchofer when it began to rain as the race wound down to the finish. Barth ran wide, (blocked?) got bumped, spun and fell back.
Kirchhöfer also passed the leading # 36 Schutz Motorsport AMG GT3 on his way to victory.
Barth won Saturday's Pirelli Trophy but slipped to 8th in the process.
Sunday’s race went to the # 1 Precote Herberth Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3R of defending champion Robert Renauer and rookie team-mate Thomas Preining.
The # 77 C7 GT3R carried 30kg success ballast from Saturday’s win. Wet conditions also favored the so called mid engined Volkswagens (Audi. Porsche and Lamborghinis).
At the end of the weekend it was the best start in 13 years at Oschersleben.
Thanks to Team Principal Ernst Woehr for insights and to Mike Roberts for some of the photos.
