# 23 Amy Ruman makes the podium at Road Atlanta
# 23 Amy Ruman (Corvette) 3-time winner at Road Atlanta started 5th and wound up 3rd. A malfunctioning tail light sidelined # 98 Ernie Francis Jr and a broken axle at the end cost # 20 Chris Dyson (in Mustangs) that qualified 2 seconds faster.
The # 2 Lawrence Loshak & # 8 Tomy Drissi (Camaros) swept the race for Claudio Burtin’s team.
# 59 Simon Gregg (Corvette) moved up to finish 5th.
The 40-lap race was green flag from start to finish. # 26 Aaron Pierce, an Indiana sprint car racer qualified 1st in SGT in his C6 Corvette lost out to # 46 Mark Bowden 991 GT3 Porsche and others as the course changed from wet to dry.
The # 02 Larry Bailey & # 33 Joe Molholland SGT Corvettes did not qualify.
“I’m pretty pleased with our result today,” said Ruman. “We were a little far back, but our game plan was not to make any mistakes because we knew it was going to dry out at the end and hopefully, we would be there. Road Atlanta is a challenging fast track if you have a good car. If you have a bad car it can be treacherous because traffic makes it tricky.”
