Four Corvettes score in Top Ten at Sebring Trans Am opener
# 06 R.J. Lopez “local” from Bal Harbor started 5th and made the podium in his C6 Corvette on Sunday March 3 at Sebring International Raceway. Racing for years in FL, Lopez always seems to be a force, even if not running for the championship.
# 3 Lawrence Loshak, Camaro won and # 20 Chris Dyson, Mustang was 2nd.
# 23 Amy Ruman finished 5th with a full agenda again in sight. Starting 8th she battled # 0 Jordan Bupp Camaro for most of the race. Both advanced after a few mid-race restarts and some attrition along the way.
# 59 Simon Gregg finished 8th also with full agenda in sight.
# 04 Natalie Decker was next, 9th in a Corvette supplied by Tony Ave. An up-and-comer at 19, she began her action-packed weekend at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway placing 14th in # 54 Silverado in the NASCAR Gander Outdoor Truck Series. Then she jetted off to Sebring for the Trans Am and a top 10 under Tony’s tutelage.
# 41 Vinnie Allegretta, making a comeback qualified in the top 5 but dropped out on lap 2 of the 27-lap race. In 2017 Vinnie was runner up in the championship won by Ernie Francis Jr.
# 33 Joe Molholland scored 20th (2nd in SGT) in this GT2 Corvette built by Phoenix Performance. The car was formerly piloted by Andrew Aquilante, a top gun in SCCA Club Racing.
