Corvette performance in SVRA 2019 season opener at Sebring
# 66 Walo Bertschinger Group 6 winner in GS 006 outshined them all. Photo by Stephan Bissang, Corvette Club of Switzerland on his second visit to Sebring.
# 24 Bill Treffert was a top performer in his tricked-out 1960 Corvette that topped the race for combined 1-3-4.
Further back in the field # 3 Frank Morelli group 4 had the time of his life dicing with # 76 MGA (Honeybee) group 1 piloted by Dave Nicholas, a natural driver into his 70s. Dave is a force behind one of the best historic racing websites stemming from the mid-1960s with the BARC boys, Binghamton Auto Racing Club.
# 4 Ray Zisa was another top performer in his 1990 C4 ex Kim Baker World Challenge Corvette. The car is immaculately prepped and seems never to put a wheel off the road. Owning and running a leading Corvette shop, Corvette Center of Connecticut pays off.
# 33 Bob Lima is among an enterprising group of drivers racing in both vintage (SVRA group 6) and Pro Trans Am (TA2) at circuits like Sebring where the 2 series share the date. Other Corvette pilots we expect to see to racing in both series include Matt Parent, Peter Klutt and Edward Sevadjian.
# 23 Henry Gilbert (SVRA group 10) also could have raced his 2013 C7 in the Trans Am (TA). Prep-Practice-Qualifying-Racing double-duty with the same car would be a be a bit of a stretch.
# 64 Robert Blain was among the leading qualifiers but did not start in this C5/C6 ALMS ex Pratt & Miller beauty.
