Winless Corvette Racing Team plays it safe at Laguna Seca; # 3 holds GTLM points lead for Road Atlanta finale
With the GTLM championship at stake and the threatening Ford GTs out of contention, the team made an additional pit stop with 45 minutes to go while finishing 3rd for their seventh consecutive podium finish.

Tommy Milner in the # 4 and Jan Magnussen in the # 3 Corvettes which qualified 1st and 2nd managed to get by for the lead which they held for a good part of the race including pit stops for fuel and change drivers.
Later at 49 minutes to go, the # 67 Ford GT of Richard Westbrook broke the steering rack clashing in turn 2 with the # 4 now driven by Oliver Gavin.
With its closest pursuers out of contention, the Corvettes passed up the chance to notch their first win as the # 25 BMW of Connor De Fillippi and the # 912 Porsche of Laurent Vanthoor had just enough gas in their tanks to finish 1st & 2nd.
The # 3 Corvette also missed a chance to lock up the championship but leads the # 67 Ford GT 299 to 290 points heading into the Petite Le Mans 10 hour finale at Road Atlanta on Oct 13.
