Amy Ruman wins Trans Am Opening race at Sebring, sponsored by Foametix and hosted by SVRA
Race Summary
This race was exciting to the finish. Ruman won the pole besting hot shots RJ Lopez, Doug Peterson and Paul Fix. Lopez hounded Ruman and got by on a re-start after a yellow flag came out on lap 10. Lopez held the lead after other yellows until his fuel pump gave out late in the race. Ruman held off Simon Gregg who emerged at the end but he got tangled with Peterson who came 2nd.. Ruman has now won two in a row following a victory at the Daytona finale last Nov. Next race is Homestead on April 12.

A Survey of C7 bodied Trans Am (SCCA GT-1) Corvettes
Jim Derhaag, car builder and principal owner of the Trans Am series resurrected under license with SCCA Pro Racing introduced the first C7 TA Corvette at Mid-Ohio last year. Car # 59 is a new chassis built for long time Derhaag customer driver Simon Gregg.
Derhaag supplied # 7, a new C7 bodied car to Claudio Burtin, a former Rolex GT Grand Am driver from Argentina. It made its debut at Daytona in the Trans Am finale. The team is backed by Foametix, a family held company that manufactures and sells environmentally friendly foam spray used in construction.
Derhaag re-fitted one of his C7 bodies on a C5/C6 chassis for Mickey Wright, a Derhaag customer driver who began road racing last year. At Sebring the # 6 car was introduced in striking blue with sponsorship from Fan Rag Sports.
David Pintaric, a veteran Trans am driver in a new C7 TA Corvette built by Tony Ave Racing. The # 57 carries perhaps the best American flag motif in racing today.
In the TA3i class Russ Snow beat out Jason Berkeley last year's champ and Hugh Boocher
