Group 6 and Group 4 (straight axle) Corvettes in action at CoTA SVRA finale
Bob Caudle from Highland Village TX (Dallas suburb) in his # 17 Group 6 SCCA AP 1968 Corvette outdistanced second place finisher John Anderson who traveled all the way from Yorba Linda CA in his beautiful # 37 1969 Mancuso/Greenwood Corvette.
Mark McIlyar from Dallas finished third in his # 33 Group 6 SCCA AP 1971 Corvette.
Jock Griffith from Sedalia CO won the # 8 Group 6 APG class in his 1968 big block Corvette raced in Colorado back in the day by Gary Sullivan.
Mark Hilderbrand from Bedford TX in his # 28 Group 6 GT finished second in his 1972 big block coupe.
Jon DeGaynor from Bloomfield MI won the Group 6 GT class in his well-developed Corvette-powered # 111 SCCA CM Devon Special, worthy in our view by campaigning far and wide across the country, helped by his dad Scott.
Clair Schwendeman, a regular from Dallas TX usually in the lead pack was somehow off-pace, finishing fifth in his # 37A Duntov Motors prepared 1968 roadster.
John Scott from Dallas TX finished third in his # 71 Group 6 BP 1971 Corvette roadster followed by Luis Guerra from Lewisville TX fifth in his # 35 1969 Corvette coupe prepared by Duntov Motors.
Joe Robau from Montgomery TX missed the feature race in his # 11 1964 SCCA BP roadster but finished second in class in the Group 6 ‘helmet’ race.
George Wright from Spring Branch TX won the Group 4 BP class by sorting out his newly acquired # 51 1959 straight axle; followed by Jim Caudle from Arlington TX in his well-traveled # 56 1958 straight axle that got SVRA honcho Tony Parella hooked back in 2011.
Sam LeCompte, a long-time racer from Flower Mound TX chose to race his # 56 1970 Camaro; and more importantly operates Concierge Motor Sports, a 20,000 square foot full-service facility with a maintenance shop, storage space in Decatur TX next to Eagle Canyon Raceway. www.Conciergemotorsports.com
