Lone Corvette barely appears at Sebring SRO World Challenge
Mirco Schultis in the lone Corvette # 70 C7 GT3R, by all counts made a token appearance in the SRO3 class of 10 cars consisting of AMG Mercedes, Audi and Porsche in the SRO World Challenge at Sebring on Sept 23-24.
Memo Gidley in his # 101 AMG Mercedes GT3 won the 1-hour race on Saturday turning lap times about 3 seconds faster on the 3.74-mile iconic road course for which Mirco qualified 8th and finished 9th.
Jason Daskolos in his # 27 AMG Mercedes GT3 won the race on Sunday turning almost one second faster. Mirco was a DNF.
Word has it (no blame intended) that Mirco was focused more on doing the 6-hours of Spa in Belgium the following week (in another car). Were it not for his base close by in Sarasota, he could have ruled out Sebring.
The SRO World Challenge series finishes up with an 8-hour enduro race on the 2.5-mile road course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on the weekend of October 6-8.
Word also has it that a C8 Z06-GT3R customer car might be slated for the SRO series next year.
