# 70 Callaway C7 GT3R finishes 4th at Music City GP

The # 70 Callaway C7 GT3R Corvette was back in action at the SRO GT America series round 6 Big Machine Music City GP in Nashville TN.

The return of Mirco Schultis was uplifting after missing rounds 3, 4 and 5 respectively at Nola (New Orleans), CoTA (Austin) and VIR (Virginia).

While no longer in it for championship points, Schultis was fast in Saturday’s sprint race that was won by Corvette Racing legend Johnny O’Connell in the # 3 SKI Autosports Audi R8 LMS.

Sunday’s winner was Jason Daskalos in the # 27 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 prepared by Nick Short who has run C6 Corvettes in the SCCA World Challenge series (predecessor to SRO).

The looks and performance of the Callaway Competition Corvette stood out in the 12-car SRO3 field dominated by Mercedes AMG, Audi and Porsche, all made in Germany.

Word has it that GM is looking for a customer team to run a Z06 GT3R in 2024 in the SRO GT America series.

Clouds, fog and rain shrouded the 2.1-mile 11-turn street circuit which starts at the NFL Tennessee Titans stadium, traverses the Cumberland River bridge to loops back to finish at the stadium.

The outcome of the SRO races was mild compared with several crashes in fiercely contested NTT INDY Car series and a Trans Am series race for the TA2 class.
