# 3 Corvette finishes 3rd in 6-hours at Watkins Glen
The new management at Pratt & Miller got the word out via social media.
After 6 hours of racing, Antonio Garcia brought the # 3 Corvette home third in IMSA GTD Pro class.
Per co-driver Jordan Taylor, “After qualifying 6th and weathering six hours of racing, it took a great team effort to reach the podium as we were about a second off the pace.”
Antonio Garcia deserves a heap of credit for holding off the faster Jack Hawksworth in the # 14 Lexus RC F GT3 and the # 62 Ferrari 296 GT3 of Daniel Serra. The need to conserve fuel and tire wear finally eroded the Corvette’s chances in the closing 23 minutes.
The well-trained team performed superbly calling strategy, fuel and driver changes.
As well as swapping tires over rainy practice and qualifying sessions.
Judging from his non-stop tweets, Jordan Taylor is clamoring for a role in NASCAR at age 32 after serving as car coach to the # 24 NASCAR Camaro in the Garage 56 exhibition class that drew raves at Le Mans.
GM program manager Laura Klauser figures any wisdom he picks up can only help the team.
Read about the final chase in the words of the opposition. “When I (Brit Jack Hawksworth) left the pit box, the PLC was not in control and I went out too fast, leading to a drive-thru penalty. We had a faster car but with so little time, it looked like a certain victory was lost.”
“An LMP prototype made a pass on the # 3 while I got a slightly better run off Turn 7 for the lead”.
The # 25 GTP won the overall prototype class (BMW’s first in 25 years) after the # 6 Porsche of the juggernaut Roger Penske Team failed post-race tech.
The next race is a 2-hour forty-minute affair on July 8-9 in CANADA at the daunting 2.46-mile “white-knuckle” Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, still referred to as Mosport in the beautiful hills about 50 miles NE of Toronto.
