Trans Am at NOLA

  • NOLA Motorsports Park 11075 Nicolle Blvd, Avondale, LA 70094 (map)

Amy Ruman is the only Corvette at NOLA Trans am round 2

2023 marks 24 years since the Ruman family began racing Corvettes in the Trans am series.

The entry count for round 2 at NOLA was a fraction of the gargantuan opener at Sebring just 2 weeks earlier.  NOLA Motorsports Park is a 2.75-mile circuit in Avondale, just 15 miles SW of “the Big Easy”, New Orleans.

That did not deter TA racers like Amy going for the entire season.  She has started just about every race since taking over for her dad Bob.

The Ruman Racing Team is not lacking in skills nor sponsorship however Mustangs are the preference.  Better aerodynamics seem to be a factor.  The # 23 was the only Corvette in the field.

Chris Dyson’s team is on track for another championship, taking the win at NOLA in the # 16 Mustang.

Amy’s qualifying and race laps were almost 3 seconds off the pace.  She finished 6th out of 7th one lap down, scored ahead of her long-time nemesis Tomy Drissi who was penalized 40 seconds for an avoidable crash in pursuit.

It is nice that everyone is civil with Amy 6th and Ken Thwaits 5th flanking David Pintaric 4th photographed by Chris Clark whom we thank.  We also thank Mark Windecker for the 2000 photo of Bob Ruman at Mid-Ohio.

Next is Road Atlanta Mar 23-26
