Killer Shrimp Corvettes invade CoTA Trans Am finale

No joking, two Killer Shrimp Corvettes invaded Austin TX on Nov 3-5.  J C (Juan Carlos) Meynet in the # 28 defending his GT West points lead; and Kevin Michaels # 98 waving the flag for his family-owned Killer Shrimp Restaurant, Bar and Yacht Club in Marina del Rey California situated just north of LAX.

Their almost 30-year-old C5 Corvettes are no joke either, picked up on the cheap and now trimmed out with big wings and front splitters.  They pre-date and cost a bit more than the C6 Z06 Corvettes that race in the SGT class (See below for Richard Forsythe # 58).

Let it be known that Killer Shrimp is a fast-growing specie from the Caspian Sea that preys on other animals, migrated to Europe and could threaten the waters of our country.

That threat manifest at CoTA by the same J C Meynet doing a double stint in the # 28 Camaro, finishing 21st in a TA2 field of 46 cars.

Richard Forsyth referred to above, won the SGT class in his # 58 C6 Z06 Corvette prepared by GSpeed in Cresson TX.

GSpeed offers a menu from which customers can choose performance add-ons.  Richard’s car was a backup car for 2021 Trans Am SGT class champ Justin Oakes, equipped with all the right stuff.

By way of comparison, Forsyth lapped about 6 seconds faster than Meynet in the GT class.

Circuit of the Americas (CoTA) is a $ 300 mm venue built to host Formula 1 and other pro racing series.  Overwhelming for some but not for these great folks who partied on their own terms.

Austin local Gar Robinson in his first TA appearance won overall in his 850 hp # 74 Riley-prepared 74 Resort Camaro.
