# 70 Callaway C7 GT3.R closes out SRO at Indy making way for the C8 Z06 GT3.R customer car in 2024

Mirco Schultus finished a credible 5th in a 12-car SRO3 field on Saturday Oct 7 on the 2.4 - mile road course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

He recovered to finish 7th on Sunday Oct 8 after getting caught up in a first turn melee.

Memo Gidley won on both days in the # 101 Mercedes AMG.

2023 at Indy marks the end of the # 70 C7 GT3.R Callaway, chassis 001, in the SRO GT America series, formerly known as the SCCA World Challenge.

In 2019, Daniel Kielowitz finished 2nd in the debut of # 26 C7 GT3.R Callaway chassis 002 at St. Pete, only for its season to abruptly end with engine problems and no sponsorship money to carry on.  Now it is a fan favorite in historic racing with new owner Charles Wicht.

We hope the # 70 also gets a new life in historic racing.

GM recently tapped the DXDT team based in Statesville NC to round out its 2024 customer car program to race the new C8 Z06 GT3.R in the SRO GT America Series.

Team owner David Askew currently fields 2 AMG Mercedes to be replaced when the Corvettes arrive.

DXDT driver Ryan Dalziel once piloted this # 5 C5.R Pratt & Miller chassis 006 in the ALMS, fielded by Pacific Racing in 2005.
