# 64 C8.R Corvette finishes 2nd in WEC GTE PRO Class at Bahrain

Nick Tandy and Tommy Milner piloted the # 64 Corvette to 2nd place in the eight (8) hour race on November 12 that closed out the WEC series at the Bahrain International Circuit.

The uplifting surprise result was a tribute to team effort after qualifying a disappointing fifth (last in class) behind rival Ferrari and Porsche factory backed teams.

While Tandy had experience at Bahrain, the Corvette had never raced there before.

As the first round of pit stops were made, the Pratt & Miller boys kept Milner out for an extra lap in a bid to gain track position.

The gamble paid off over 7 more hours of racing ending in the pitch of night.  Their lead stood up to all but the # 52 Ferrari 488 GTE EVO of Miguel Molina and Antonio Fuoco that won the race.

The # 51 Ferrari of James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi survived a transmission glitch but still edged out Porsche to win the WEC GTE PRO class that’s now been phased out.

Both the # 91 & # 92 Porsche 911 RSRs were plagued with early tire problems and fell back.

Tommy Milner will be testing the new Corvette C8.R GT3 that GM plans to sell to customers starting in 2024.

Nick Tandy has signed on to drive a Porsche 963 LMDh Hybrid Prototype for Roger Penske next year that will race in both the WEC and the IMSA WeatherTech series.

The WEC race brings status to the Kingdom of Bahrain, a tiny oil-rich country (700,000 native population) that inhabit a small desert island in the Persian Gulf connected by a causeway to Saudi Arabia.

Nicky Catsburg and Ben Keating will take over the GTE AM Corvette for the 2023 WEC season, which begins on March 17th, 2023 at Sebring
