Amy Ruman Proves Persistence Pays off in Trans Am at VIR

Amy Ruman # 23 Corvette with her third-place result outlasted rivals # 8 Tomy Drissi # 8 Mustang and # 7 Ken Thwaits # 7 Camaro vying for second place in the TA point standings heading into the final race at CoTA.

Matt Brabham, grandson of 3-time Formula 1 champ Jack Brabham, was the winner in the # 20 Mustang, sitting in for Chris Dyson, recently crowned 2022 series champ.  Starting from the back, Matt took the lead halfway through the 31-lap race, gaining an incredible 2 seconds each lap on average.

Jose Cochron from Panama in his # 17 C6 Corvette had a good run in the TA class, moving up from 11th to finish 5th.

Aaron Pierce in his # 26 C6 Corvette had the pace to win the SGT class before troubles ended his quest halfway through the action.

Larry Bailey, Aaron’s teammate and sponsor in his # 02 C6 Corvette dropped out 20 laps shy of the finish.

Richard Grant in his # 30 C7 TA Corvette, judiciously sitting out the SCCA runoffs in the rain the previous weekend at VIR, did not complete a lap.

In a nod to youth, rookie sensation 16 yr old Brent Crewes picked up his third TA2 win of the season in his # 20 Mustang fielded by Justin Marks’ Trackhouse Racing team.  Marks has previously raced a C7 TA Corvette provided by Tony Ave.
