Callaway Corvette scores respectable results at Hockenheim

The Callaway Competition # 77 C7 GT3-R was way off pace in qualifying on both Saturday (25th) and Sunday (22nd) at the historic Hockenheim circuit, located less than 40 miles northwest from the team’s home in Leingarten.

The car is still not completely sorted out after a near catastrophic fire at the Lausitzring.  At Hockenheim they were 0.7 sec slower in sector two alone where the car is usually at its best.

Marvin Kirchoeffer and Jeffery Schmidt each made huge leaps up the grid to finish 12th on Sat and 9th on Sunday, which is quite respectable all things considered. Never before in a GT race were all 26 cars within in a 1.38 lap time.

The team is still researching all possibilities and will be at the Nurburgring finale Nov 5-7; a make-up race for the July event that was canceled to convert the facility into a base for rescue workers helping the region recover from severe flooding.

Both Lambos fielded by the GRT Grasser Team were victorious which is also a rather unusual achievement over a single weekend.

Race 1 Saturday was won on by # 63 GRT Grasser Lambo Mirko Matelli and Marco Bortolotti

Race 2 Sunday was won by # 19 GRT Grasser Lambo Rolf Ineichen and Franck Perera
