Corvette performance at SVRA Speed Tour Sebring Vintage Classic
# 05 Scott Borchetta in his hot flat-plane crank Corvette won group 6 with 21 entries overshadowed by eleven Corvettes.
# 66 Walo Bertschinger finished 3rd in his potent big block Grand Sport 006 continuation model created by Duntov Motors.
Followed by # 33 Bob Lima in his car raced by Dick Kantrud back in the day.
Scott Borchetta also unveiled # 98, his latest purchase built in 1969 by the Owens Corning team for Kurt Wetzel who raced it in Europe.
In Group 10, Jeff Bernatovich GT1 Corvette finished 2nd in a huge field that included Mopar NASCAR models raced by Borchetta and Bertchinger.
John “Babe” Branscomb Grand Am Corvette followed in his re-built wreck he bought from Troy Flis Spirit of Daytona Grand Am team.
Contending in big bore vintage racing today takes gobs of horsepower (and money to pay for it) because “Performance Creep” is here to stay.
The ever-consistent Ray Zisa in his # 4 World Challenge former Kim Baker Corvette won his in class in group 12A.
Straight axle Corvettes are fighting extinction thanks to Frank Morelli and Dave Roberts.
