Callaway C7 GT3-R teams vexed at stormy Zandvoort on the Dutch North Sea Coast
Imposing weather stymied the # 77 Callaway team and its closest contenders as intermittent downpours and gusting winds kept the cleanup crews busy clearing off sand blown in from the nearby dunes.
Starting P21 on a dry set-up, Markus Pommer climbed to 18th, caught a break by pitting under caution that catapulted Marvin Kirchhöfer to 10th.
All for naught as it took 6 laps trying to fix an ignition misfire ending the race in 24th place.
Sunday qualifying was a madhouse as the top teams opted for the last minutes. Marvin salvaged P 15 and gained 2 spots at the driver change. Markus incurred a drive-through penalty for jumping the exit by two-tenths of a second resulting in 20th at the finish.
Luckily the Callaway boys remain in second place in the ADAC GT Masters championship standings as the leading # 8 HCB-Rutronic Racing Audi R8 of Patric Niederhauser and Kelvin Van der Linde also lost out.
David Jahn and Sven Barth have improved a lot with 12th on Saturday but was a DNF on Sunday.
The Callaway teams hope to fare better at Nurburgring just a week away.
