# 33 Corvette DP tops in SVRA Spring Vintage Classic opener at Sebring
Veteran racer John Reisman won both the sprint race and the enduro in his lightning fast 2014 C7 DP Coyote, formerly piloted by Eric Curran and Dane Cameron of the Whelen arm of the Action Express team.
An earlier version 2013 C6 DP Dallara driven by champs Rickey and Jordan Taylor for their dad’s Wayne Taylor Racing is offered for sale and sat out. For asking price and more info and please feel free to contact jhydercrc@gmail.com
Veteran racer Robert Blain won group 10 in his 2004/5 C5 ex Pratt & Miller chassis 013. It’s a keeper.
Grand Sport lovers might appreciate that Walo Bertschinger’s Duntov-authorized roadster and Ken Mennella’s replica roadster are now better matched in Group 6 for production cars (vs waning Group 5 for prototypes).
Powered by a hot 427 that makes over 700 hp, Walo overcame tranny problems to run with leaders Gary Moore (1965 Mustang 350 GT prepped by Cobra Automotive) and Larry Ligas (1963 Jag XKE RHD prepped by his Predator Racing shop).
It wouldn’t be a party were it not for the courtesy of Will Hubbell.
Trying to carry more speed down the long straight, Jim Glass overcooked it out of turn 16. No damage so he could smile afterward.
Bill Treffert driving his # 24 1960 won his class in Group 4 in what might be the best developed straight axle in vintage racing today. Frank Morelli was a bit off that pace and decided to sit out Sunday’s race.
Ray Zisa # 4 won his class in Group 12A in his immaculate C4 1990 ex Kim Baker World Challenge Corvette.
Rick Ortman # 26 is getting back into the game racing a C4 1988 ex NASA Corvette.
Bob Lima # 33 installed a small block engine in his ex Dick Kantrud big block and ran well but was a DNS for the final.
Woody Smith # 33 plans to fit out a cage and upgrade the ex-autocross car he’s been racing for several years.
Will Hubbell tested the # 67 C6 2006 Callaway GT4 chassis 0015 raced in Europe that was recently acquired by John Kyle.
Friend and supporter Ron Bauer displayed his 1972 # 24 (1982 Greenwood turbo re-bodied for IMSA GT) ex Craig Rubright that’s looking for a new owner. Please feel free to contact jhydercrc@gmail.com
Great photos thanks to Larry VanScoy.
As the agenda progressed, track time got scarce with ITE and Trans Am encroaching on time for the final sprint races that were shortened to just 5 laps.
