Vinnie Allegretta from Hampton Bays NY is making his presence felt amongst the “regulars” in just his second year.

Even more impressive, Ernie Francis Jr rising young phenom from Dania FL won his third straight race and is now the man to beat for the title.

The Trans Am at the Chevrolet Grand Prix was a bit squeezed by Indy Car and IMSA.  With the bigger Indy event just 2 weeks away, only 9 contenders entered for the TA class.  # 44 AJ Henricksen finished ahead of # 59 Simon Gregg for 3rd but was disqualified for failing post-race weigh-in.

2-time champ Amy Ruman’s car was plagued by mechanical problems all weekend.  Dropped out with 12 laps to go and classified 7th.

Rumors that Jim Derhaag recruited Corvette racing star Ron Fellows to drive the # 6 car came to naught.

Tomy Drissi appeared in a makeshift Mustang and also piloted an IMSA LMP2 while Tony Ave team owner hopes to have his Corvette ready for Indy.

Wayne Taylor’s boys won their 5th straight IMSA race in Corvette powered Caddy.
