Action Express & Whelen Team Fox 1-2 in DP at 6 hrs of Watkins Glen; Corvette Racing grabs 4th in GTLM

# 5 Christian Fittipaldi & Joao Barboza got the win as the quicker # 2 & # 60 Honda Ligiers had setbacks late in the race. 

Teammates # 31 Eric Curran & Dane Cameron also steadily moved up, swapping the lead to finish a close 2nd.

# 90 Mark Goosens was the fastest DP Corvette but got sideways in the late goings and crashed in turn 8.  (Goosens won GTLM at the Glen last year in a Viper).

# 4 Tommy Milner gained 4th exploiting a timely call on the final round of pit stops.  IMSA regulates flow (for safety) so the time it takes to refuel is the limiting factor (vs tire changing or driver changes as one might expect).  Milner gained 3 spots because less fuel and fewer minutes were needed at the time the call was made.  All went perfect to send Milner back out in the midst of a tense four-car battle.  A great ending after a discouraging start.

Lopsided weight and air restrictor limits dropped the Corvettes to 6th and 8th on the 10 car GTLM starting grid.  IMSA put out an “emergency” decree to adjust the BOP just a week before Mosport. 

Milner & Gavin held onto their lead in the GTLM Driver’s standings and grew Chevrolet’s lead in the GTLM Manufacturer points rankings.

On January 5 at Daytona, 1966 Roger Penske entered an L88 Corvette for his first win as a team owner.  Kevin Mackay of Corvette Repair tracked it down and restored it.  Team Penske marked its 50th year and the longest run of success by any teams competing in Indy and Sports Car racing.

On Thursday June 30 the International Motor Racing Research Center (IMRRC) at Watkins Glen honored Penske and his team at the Corning Museum of Glass.   We were proud to be part of a lifetime experience.  Look for more to come.
