# 23 Amy Ruman rebounds from Sebring to win at Road Atlanta
Amy Ruman celebrates her first victory of the season at Road Atlanta.
As the 2015 TA champion put it, “my dad (Bob Ruman) had the hot set-up really dialed in here at Road Atlanta. We were fast right off the trailer and we led every session”.
Ruman adds “It’s a long season and so much can happen. I’m just taking each race one at a time. We had a nice lead last year and it dwindled away by midseason. If we have a bad race, we’ll move on from it; if we have a good one, we’re just going to try and continue the momentum. We’re chasing our second championship so hopefully we’ll do it again”.
# 50 Paul Fix, her main rival last year dropped out on lap 23, reportedly with gear box trouble.
# 59 Simon Gregg (Derhaag) and # 57 David Pintaric (Kryder) finished 4th & 5th.
Here is a blast from the past. Corvette fans might recall Greg Pickett who won the 1978 Trans Am II category in a tricked-out tube-frame Greenwood/Bob Riley designed C3 Corvette. About 10 years later he contended in a Riley & Scott TA/GT1 silhouette C4 Corvette.
The same Greg Pickett starting his 180th Trans Am is still a force, finished 3rd in # 68 Mustang-based Jaguar XKR.
# 7 Claudio Burtin in his ride newly sponsored by GoShare had a rough day, out on lap 15 for 36th.
# 30 Richard Grant in his newly C7 bodied car was 37th.
