Amy Ruman wins 5th out of 6, her latest at Brainerd
Halfway through the Trans Am season Amy Ruman has won 5 times in 6 starts. Some chalk it up to luck. Others think she’ll fade. Amy could also have a youth thing going for her. Growing up in an active racing family, Amy is like second generation to many of her competitors in the TA class. So in addition to being a really good driver, this might count for an advantage.
Last year’s champ Doug Peterson qualified on the pole. Ruman dispatched him on lap 5. Cliff Ebben in a Mustang closed near the end to finish 2nd.
According to the drivers, hot, grimy and slick conditions put tires to the test.
# 57 David Pintaric and # 19 Kerry Hitt finished 4th and 5th for their best results of the season.
Paul Fix, Ruman’s top pursuer retired early reportedly due to an incident. More details pending the outcome of a protest that has been filed.
Ruman clearly leads the points standings going into the next race at Mid-Ohio, her “home track” on Aug 15-16.
