The story goes it was a 7/8ths size 1957 Corvette. Possibly built by Smokey Yunick with Zora Duntov's help.It was extreamly fast and came out of Ebb Rose's fleet of cars in Houston, Texas. Dave said to me in December 2009, "They raced it hard and won lots of races, but when they got caught 'cheaten', they sold it to me." Notes/Race History: Dave Morgan said in December 2009, "One thing I thought of on the “57” that Eb sold me, (It was the first vette I bought after Hap Sharp and I owned one together).... Eb had raced the car hard and I bought it because it was the fastest one around. A side-light to that purchase was that Lloyd Ruby, Indy fame brought it to me, stayed at my bachelor quarters and after 40 class wins plus many overall poduim finishes, I found it quite a “cheater” about ¾ inch scale. If Lloyd was still alive he’d verify the transaction and the car. It was really neat. I only sold it because I got protested so many times, I could no longer win with it Registry ID Number: 896 View Original Size ![]() Dave Morgan in #89 being chased by Jim Hall or Bill Horton in the 28 car |
