Notes/Race History: In 1970, this Corvette Roadster was built for racing by Henry Gomez, Roy Boone, Darwin Bosell, and John Biza; owner of John's Corvette Shop, Saint Paul Park (MN). John held competition licenses in FIA, IMSA, and SCCA. (SCCA car Log Book #18-335; Car #12) During his racing career (1970-1975), John competed with the Corvette in numerous regional and national Trans-Am races including: the Un-Cola Nationals, Pepsi Trans-Am Nationals, and 7-UP S.C.C.A. Trans-American Championship. In 1976, the Corvette was purchased by Darwin Bosell, of Cedar (MN). Darwin, a former crew member of the original John's Corvette Shop Racing Team continued to campaign the Corvette in SCCA Trans-Am and IMSA Camel GT Series, running as car #25. In order to take advantage of changing regulations in 1978, the car was rebodied into a hardtop-coupe configuration; this included a 1978 Pace Car paint scheme. The Corvette was campaigned during this period with great success; particularly considering that the car was often competed against large factory and/or corporate sponsored race teams. In 1994, Jack Beckman, purchased the old IMSA car. With the help of Darwin Bosell, old photographs, and all of the original roadster body parts, the Corvette was returned to its original racing configuration. The car was raced for five years (1994-1999) in many vintage events sanctioned by VSCDA, VSCR, and RMVR. In 1999, the car was sold to James Aldag. Mr. Aldag continued to compete in many vintage races culminating in 2001, when the Corvette received the SVRA Medalion (#6-410). In 2008, the Corvette was sold to Mark Ferrara. The car has recently completed a full racing restoration performed by Jim Glass Corvette; Kingston, N.Y. Competition History 1. 1970-1994: SCCA/IMSA/Camel GT 2.
