Unique Characteristics: Steve George from Maryland bought the car in 1993. It has a 36 year racing history after being purchased off a Michigan used car lot in 1967 by a young James McIntosh who autocrossed it for 3 years, then raced in SCCA. Engine was a 365hp 327. Steve turned it over to Sam Moses, noted author (Fast Guys, Rich Guys and Idiots) to race (and write about) in the one hour enduro at the SVRA Watkins Glen in early Sept, 2004. Finished 2nd in class. Sam Moses’ entertaining account is entitled An Hour of Bliss that appeared in the Jan/Feb 2005 issue of Vintage Motorsport magazine, available as a back issue. Drove the entire WGI long road course in 3rd gear, shifting to 4th only for pit straight and uphill straight leading to bus stop turn. Steve George previously upgraded the car with new 7,500 rpm 331 cid engine, new brakes, new tranny, new 4:11 rear to keep up with SVRA Group 6 hot rods. Steve also repainted the car in original Nassau Blue, race #3. It weighed 2,750 lbs and ran on Goodyear bias ply tires.
Modifications: roll bar and safety items. Flarred fenders and 8 inch wide wheels by the 70's.
Notes/Race History: Car was purchased new from Berger Chevrolet in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It has always been a 1965 - 365 hp Nassau blue ( I have the Protecto Plate as well) Corvette that has raced SCCA since 1967. As a member of the Corvette Club Of Michigan from 1966, Jim McIntosh also raced it within their club events for years Jim McIntosh also started racing racing SCCA in early 1967 in road races. Jim also raced hill climbs and autocross ( his home track was Waterford ) I have the SCCA Log books from 1972 - 1992 (Log Book # 10-739, CARE log book # 89-104 issued 1989, W.H.R.R.I log book #421, and SVRA Log Books dating back to 1999 The car received SVRA medallion in May 1999 # GFM6-009. This car has been through several owners and has raced at virtually every significant road course in America. I currently race the car in SVRA , HSR, VARA and HSR west.
