Within the first year, he sold it to Jim Whelan who immediately prepared the car for SCCA Road Racing. From May thru Aug of 64 he entered four SCCA Regional races in Mn, Iowa,and Wisconsin. By year end, Jim had a chance to get a Cobra, so this car the Cobra and a street 63 Corvette SWC were traded among friends and Peter Dock took over the ownership and controls of this race car. Pete entered 19 Regional and National SCCA races over the next three race seasons. Southport, Wilmont Hills, Lynndale Farms, Road America, Milwaukee Mile, and others were regular tracks where the car raced successfully with many top 5 finishes, with over 70% podium top 3. The car was sold in the late 60's after being painted twice different bright colors. In the mid 80's , NCRS Collectors purchased the car and restored it to factory delivered condition. Current owner Bill Braun has recently re-lettered the 1980's restoration back to race livery condition as seen below in 1964. The car will be attending the CORVETTES AT CARLISLE RACE CAR REUNION August 27-30, 2009 with 1965 driver / owner Pete Dock.
