Vented disc brakes were added after that event. Converted to a Roadster in Spring 1964. Notes/Race History: Tested at Sebring Dec 62 with Thompson and Gregory as a coupe. Vented disc brakes were added. Never raced as a coupe, and was converted to a Roadster by Chevrolet in April 64. Sold to Roger Penske after the conversion. In 66, a 427 "Mystery" L-88 engine was installed and the car was raced at Sebring 66 ITS FIRST TIME by Dick Guldstrand and Dick Thompson. Only 3 hr 44 minutes into the race Thompson was forced off course and broke the oil pan and the car was out. In 1993, under Gene Schiavone's ownership, the car was vintage raced in the 66 L-88 engine livery, and driven by old Corvette racer from the 60's Doug Hooper. Willow Springs, Laguna Seca, Kent Washington, Road America and Watkins Glen were the tracks visited that summer. What a neat show for all to see and enjoy.
