The engine, as modified for World Challenge (12:0:1 compression) would yield an estimated 505 bhp, 448 lb/ft f torque at 7800 RPM. After a season of running behind the pack in 2001, David Farmer replaced the original engine with a Katech blueprinted short block and Lingenfleter ported heads, in 2002. Other modifications permitted by SCCA included: 1.0mm overbore, alternate approved camshaft, crankshaft, and heads, if acquired through GM Motorsports. Later in the series the cars were also allowed to use new 6.0 litre motor.
