The C7 Corvette GT3 R was unveiled in October 2015 at Hockenheim before the final race of the ADAC GT season. The body by Canadian Paul Deutschman, longtime designer for Callaway, is inspired by the GTM cars. The aggressive aerodynamic kit consists of heavily modified bumpers, fenders, side sills, and a massive rear wing, significantly bigger than the one on the Pratt & Miller IMSA C7.R. The carbon-fiber diffuser and the vented rear fenders round out the aero package.
In 2016 the # 77 Valvoline/Roller driven by former champion Daniel Keilwitz and Jules Gounon, a talented young Frenchman, won three of 6 races and was contending for the championship heading into the finale at Hockenheim. A tangle with an Audi put Gounon into the wall ending their hopes. In 2017 they were outright winners.
